Huntingdon police say Domino’s employee shot during robbery

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — An employee is airlifted with a gunshot wound after a Monday night robbery at Domino’s Pizza.

jackson-robbery-image.jpgThree men wearing ski masks and armed with a revolver entered the Domino’s Pizza on East Main Street around 9:15 p.m., according to a release from Director of Public Safety Walter Smothers.

The men tried to find money in the office before taking an undermined amount of cash from the register.

As the men fled from the store running east, an employee attempted to follow them.

The men shot at the employee an undetermined number of times, striking him once in the right lower leg, according to the release.

The employee, a 36-year-old man, was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center for surgery. He was able to describe the men only as young black males.

Police released surveillance images they say show the vehicle used in the robbery, showing what police describe as a light-colored SUV-type vehicle with five-spoke wheels.huntingdon-dominos-robbery-vehicle

Police say video shows the three subjects enter the business while at least one person stays in the vehicle.

Smothers said businesses should use this as a reminder to keep up with their security cameras.

“It’s really just a warning for everyone to raise their standards on their video surveillance and just taking precautions, especially late at night,” he said.

Huntingdon police now are looking for the owner of the vehicle that was caught on the restaurant’s surveillance camera at the time of the incident.

Kathie Abbott, the owner of a real estate business next to Domino’s, says the incident is raising concerns for other businesses in the area.

“I understood that they had backed up here at our building, and that is scary to think about,” she said. “But I know the police are working hard to get answers for us.”

Huntingdon police ask anyone who recognizes the suspect’s vehicle or knows anything about the incident to call them at 731-986-2906.
