JACKSON, Tenn. — After pleading guilty a month ago to more than a dozen charges stemming from multiple business break-ins, a Jackson man was sentenced Tuesday to serve 14 years at 30 percent.
Andrew Kim pleaded guilty Nov. 7 to all 14 charges against him after a judge rejected a plea deal the week before.
He was sentenced during a Tuesday morning hearing to 14 years at 30 percent. He could be eligible for release after 4.2 years.
Kim also must pay $1,000 in fines per charge, totaling $14,000 in fines, along with court costs and restitution to victims.
The restitution amounts Kim must pay to each business are: Outdoors Inc. – $4,000; Office Max – $1,900; Best Buy – $7,913.83; Coffman’s Home Furnishings – $3,000.
Kim also is barred from entering any of the businesses.
A forensic psychologist testified for the defense during the Tuesday hearing, saying that Kim suffers from PTSD and has struggled with prescription drug addiction. She also testified that Kim was on Ambien at the time of the crimes.
