Stores extend hours for last-minute holiday shoppers
NORTH JACKSON, Tenn. — Some stores extended their hours for last minute holiday shoppers.
“Get in and get out,” Robert Walton, a shopper, said.
The clock is ticking. Last minute shoppers rush to purchase presents before Christmas. Walton shopped early Wednesday morning. “I just go when I think you know the crowd is a little bit slack,” he said.
Academy Sports and Outdoors extended its hours. The store in north Jackson will be open until midnight Thursday, Dec. 22 and Friday, Dec. 23, then from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
“We try to make sure that we’re available for everybody because everybody’s got different hours and they’re busy doing a lot of different things,” Academy Sports and Outdoors Store Director Shaun Kehe said.
Shop at Kohl’s around the clock, 24 hours a day, from now until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Ross Dress for Less is open until 1:30 a.m. the next few days. Old Navy stays open until midnight Thursday, Dec. 22 and Friday, Dec. 23, then from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
“It’s really nice to be able to come here early because in the afternoons the crowds here, the traffic here, is horrible,” Patrick O’Connor, a shopper, said.
Stores said they can have shoppers at all hours. “We have been very busy with the extended hours,” he said. “It’s proven to be busy all the way up until close.”
Customers seemed to appreciate the extra shopping time. “Some people gotta work all day, so they need that little extra time in the evening to take care of what they need,” Walton said.
Academy Sports and Outdoors said it brought in extra staff to handle the crowds.
All of the stores listed above will be closed Christmas Day.
