2-week investigation ends with multiple arrests in Gibson County

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE WEST TENNESSEE DRUG TASK FORCE - 28TH,29TH,30TH

On 5/14/24, Agents with the 28th District out of Gibson County closed a 2 week investigation with the assistance of Gibson Police Department and Gibson County Sheriff’s Department.

Agents have been on the trail of Samuel Sikes, 44, of Humboldt who was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants in Gibson and Madison Counties. Today, they located him at a residence on Esquire Estes Road in Gibson County. Agents surrounded the home and as they entered through the front, Sikes ran out of a rear door into the arms of three waiting Agents. Sikes was taken into custody without further incident.

Agents observed drugs in plain view and were able to detain two other persons in the home and obtain a search warrant for the property. Seized from the property was approximately 1/2 ounce of meth, 3 weapons, 4 marijuana plants, a small amount of processed marijuana, various pills and drug paraphernalia.

During the search, Agents observed a vehicle drive into their crime scene and further investigation revealed the driver to be in possession of approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine along with a loaded handgun and rifle.

Sikes along with three other persons were arrested and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Sikes is currently being held without bond on his warrants and all four are awaiting bond on the new charges. The four all face various drug and weapons charges and two are multiple previously convicted felons.

Agents are investigating whether or not the other two in the home knew Sikes was a wanted fugitive and more charges could be forthcoming pending the results of that investigation. This case is being prosecuted by The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District, Frederick Agee.
