JACKSON, Tenn. — We have updates about a story we’ve been following closely and we now have more details, but are still left with many questions.

Here’s what we know.

Jackson police have confirmed the shooting that took place Tuesday evening, May 14, on Dr FE Wright Drive has left one person dead and one person injured.

We have reached out to JPD, but authorities have not confirmed any additional details at this time.

Around 7:30 Tuesday evening, thanks to our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness Tipsters, we received a tip about a large police presence on Dr FE Wright Drive near US 70 Bypass in east Jackson.

Upon arrival, our crews found that both lanes of traffic were blocked and being rerouted.

More than two dozen evidence markers were visible on the road.

Officers were seen surveying the road with flashlights and taking pictures of the crime scene.

Multiple ambulances were seen leaving the scene and traffic was rerouted until around 10:00 pm.

Currently, we do not know the name of the deceased, the age, or if anyone is in custody.

However, those are all questions we could have answers for in the near future.

We did speak to workers at local businesses in the area, but none directly witnessed the incident.

We’ll provide more information as it becomes available.
