Ida Gray Shaw Sullivan

Mf SullivanIda Gray Shaw Sullivan, age 94, resident of Macon, Tennessee and wife of the late James Milton Sullivan, Jr. “Sonny” departed this life peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Mrs. Sullivan was born September 10, 1929 in Hughes, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Clifton Shaw and Virlie Ann Shaw; her husband, Sonny Sullivan; and her eldest son, James Milton “Jake” Sullivan III.

Mrs. Ida graduated from Treadwell High School and attended Memphis State University. She met Sonny while attending college and they were married December 31, 1951. Ida worked as a legal secretary at a law firm until she dedicated her life to Sonny and her family. She enjoyed helping Sonny with the farm accounts and bookkeeping. Ida loved traveling, playing bridge and having lunch with her friends.

Mrs. Ida is survived by her son, “John” Sydney Sullivan, Sr. (Debbie Sullivan) of Macon, TN; her daughter, Jane Ann Sullivan (Clint White) of Friendship, TN; six grandchildren, “John” Sydney Sullivan, Jr. (Tina Sullivan), James “Gideon” Sullivan (Brittany Sullivan), Noel Tipler (Karen Tipler), Toya Bell (Mark Bell), Corrie LaBarreare (Zac LaBarreare) and Janie “Leigh” Davis (Jason Davis); eight great-grandchildren, Will Sullivan, Sydney Ann Sullivan, Winter Pierce Sullivan, Carson Lee Sullivan, Rylee Bell, Reese Bell, Emma LaBarreare and Easton LaBarreare; and her great-great-grandson, Cove Smith.

A visitation for Mrs. Ida will be held on May 21, 2024 from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland followed by service at 3 P.M. The address is 10670 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068. Interment will follow at Macon Cemetery in Macon, Tennessee.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Macon Cemetery c/o Brenda Paradise, 10565 Highway 193, Williston, TN 38076.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be John Sullivan, Jr, Gideon Sullivan, Noel Tipler, Bryan Shaw, David Wong and Mike Harwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Clint White and Shelton Wilder.
