Hub City’s new Dixie plant is on schedule to open this summer
JACKSON, Tenn. — Today, May 17, we were able to get an update on a major project being built in the Hub City, bringing many jobs with it.
We had the opportunity to visit the Georgia Pacific Dixie Plant to see how the hard work has been coming along.
Mike Cook, Plant Director, shares good news.
“We’re intending to open up the facility here this summer. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to run here, right in this community,” said Cook.
This summer, cookouts and summer gatherings can be accompanied by some Dixie staple items.
“So we will be making our market leading tableware products. Specifically we will be making plates, bowls, platters, and cutting boards at this facility,” said Cook.
Cook shares that the job search for positions has been going well and they still plan to fill all of the positions.
“We are continuing to look to fill to full capacity. We’ve gotten most of our staff that will be starting the facility up soon and we will earn the right to run and grow and grow our team here,” said Cook.
He also mentions that Jackson’s hospitality has made this project move along well.
“We’re excited about the reception. The community has received us with open arms with and looking forward to being a preferred partner as we go forward,” said Cook.
We were unable to get inside shots due to construction however, cook says he is looking forward to having the Jackson, Tennessee name on their products.
