WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn.- Governor Bill Haslam made a visit to West Tennessee, Thursday, making a stop in Dresden to announced three grants. In all, they total nearly $800,000 for Dresden and Martin to lengthen and develop recreational trails connecting the communities with their downtowns. Dresden is receiving two different grants. One will be used to dedicate property as a park and convert a former railroad line into a walking and cycling trail. “We’re looking at a point to try to create a quality of lifestyle. Why would people want to come to Dresden, why would you they want to locate and live here?,” said Gwin Anderson, Dresden vice mayor. “And so sometimes it takes that point of making a quality life impact to make a difference.” Martin received a $200,000 grant. It will be used to extend the current Brian Brown Greenway to downtown Martin by constructing a multi-use trail, approximately 3,000 feet long and 10 feet wide.
