Players battle it out at the USSSA Super Hero Smash

JACKSON, Tenn.—One local ball tournament invites Super Heroes to hit the field.

The first-ever USSSA Super Hero Smash Baseball tournament was held today in Jackson.

The tournament, presented by Great American Sports, took place at The West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex located at 250 Bancorpsouth Pkwy.

The event featured 112 travel ball teams from across six states competing for the chance to win a unique Super Hero Ring.

Teams were made up of players ages 7 to 14-years-old and awards were issued to the champions and finalists in each age division.

Rain caused the two-day event to scale back to Sunday only, but that did not take away from all the fun.

“Travel baseball is just a fantastic sport. It’s outstanding to get these young men out and keep them from playing video games, off the couch, and out here and in the outdoors and learning this fantastic game,” said Todd Hampton, Assistant Coach, Next Level Baseball.

The event featured more than just baseball games, also offering a costume contest and promising other great surprises.
