Jackson Pride awards $7,000 in scholarships to local students
JACKSON, Tenn. — Wednesday, Jackson Tennessee Pride awarded $7,000 in scholarships to three local high school graduates during a presentation at the Community Foundation of West Tennessee.
This year’s pride recipients are:
- Jackson Glover, Scotts Hill High School.
- Kristin Henning, Madison Academic High School.
- Tamyra Patterson, Humboldt High School.
Board members say the funding for the scholarships come from the various organizations that support the non-profit.
“That is provided through organizations that help to promote us and to support us throughout the year. Mainly through our Jackson Tennessee Pride Festival that we have in September. Through our sponsors, vendors, and people that come in to make donations; it’s all community driven,” said Heath Williams, Founding Board Member of Jackson TN Pride.
The pride festival will be held this year on September 28th at Conger Park and the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
