JACKSON, Tenn.–A developing story as multiple agencies respond to one area of east Jackson Friday night.

That prompted calls from several of our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipsters. The calls from tipsters started coming in shortly before 8 p.m.

When our crew arrived, they found police, fire trucks, ambulances and a vehicle that had apparently driven into the side of Lincoln Elementary School, just off of Whitehall and Elizabeth Street.

Police along with emergency crews were seen coming in and out of the school. Our crew says one person was seen being taken out of the school in handcuffs and placed in an ambulance. There’s no word on injuries or if the person is facing charges.

Fire crews were seen assessing the damage to try to figure out how to get the SUV removed from inside the school. Later, the vehicle was pulled from the school by a tow truck.

WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News has reached out to leaders with the Jackson Police Department for additional details, but we have not heard back from them.

Stay with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News on air and on line as we continue to gather more details.
