DRESDEN, Tenn. — Today marks the start of week 2 of the swift trial.
In our continuing coverage, a mutual friend of the Swifts took to the stand this afternoon.
Monday, witnesses were called to the stand to either share their expertise on evidence found or give character accounts of the swifts.
On Monday afternoon, A mutual friend of the Swifts, Robin Alford, took the stand to share accounts on who Karen swift was to her.
She says their friendship was always family-centered but overtime changed.
“I could see that Karen was kind of drifting away from her marriage and she would speak to me in confidence about not being happy, that there was a little shift in her priorities and so our friendship kind of suffered from that,” said .
David Swift’s lawyer believes David wasn’t able to kill Karen due to his knee injury and lack of evidence.
Alford was questioned about David Swift’s knee.
“He brought the girls to me on Halloween in 2011, that’s the day, well, she went missing on the 30th. Well, I took the girls trick-or-treating that night and he dropped them off cause he couldn’t get around the neighborhood like we did. He came back around 10 o’clock that night and picked them up again,” said .
Alford’s testimony overall was in regards to the progression of Karen and David’s relationship.
Alford’s testimony was one of many witnesses that took the stand today.
This trial will continue tomorrow, June 4.
