Fundraiser benefits an important West TN organization

LEXINGTON, Tenn.—Residents dive into a special fundraising event in Lexington.

A fish fry event was held at Beech Lake today.

The event took place from 8:30 this morning until 2 this afternoon. There were activities and fun available for the entire family to enjoy.

There was a car show featuring antique, custom and classic vehicles.

The event also featured music, a cornhole tournament, dice run, and of course lots of food.

Funds raised from the event will go to the West TN Water Response Team in Henderson County.

The organization not only serves as the primary search and rescue team in Henderson County, but also works in counties all across West TN. 

“This is the busiest season, when everyone starts swimming and everything. We also over here, we furnish lifejackets and stuff over here for the, we got a lifejacket booth for the kids and stuff. We try to promote water safety,” said J.D. Dunkle, Captain at Dive Rescue and Recovery.

The team also works in conjunction with other agencies, performing rescue and recovery efforts.
