New TCAT campus location unveiled during ceremony

STANTON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Board of Regents held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Tennessee College of Applied Technology Stanton campus.

Heath McMillion, the president of TCAT Jackson was excited about the new technical college campus.

“It’s amazing to hear the history that’s gone into this project. So it’s a transformational project that will help future generations for years to come so I’m just very excited to be a small part of this project,” said McMillion.

He told us that they broke ground in 2022 and completed this project three weeks early.

Vice-president of TCAT Stanton, Dr. Patrick Davis, said that the first career and technical education classes start September 3.

“We’re starting off with automotive/electrical vehicle, production technician as well as industrial maintenance with an emphasis on an integrated automation, welding and then machine tool and dye,” said Davis.

Employers who work with ford already will have the opportunity to interact with the students.

Davis said he hopes that the students will connect with those workers and possibly learn more workforce training through those connections.

Several state and local officials, like Governor Bill Lee, spoke about what this will bring to the city.

“A part of a transformation of a community and frankly part of a transformation in Tennessee moving in the right direction. We’re excited about this opening and we’re excited about what this means for West Tennesseans and the future of Tennessee in general,” said Governor Lee.

Senator Bill Hagerty told us that he appreciated the support of the community.

“To be able to provide this TCAT for the region is going to provide opportunities for young people for years to come, so it really is a wonderful homage and governor thank you for your vision to make this happen,” said Senator Hagerty.

This will be an open-access institution for anyone interested in career or technical education classes.
