TVA to Build Large Scale Solar Facility in McNairy County

SELMER, Tenn. – A new Tennessee Valley Authority solar facility in McNairy County could bring 300 to 400 jobs to the area. Strata Solar is working with the TVA and Pickwick Electric Cooperative to develop the two largest solar energy installations in the Tennessee Valley. They will be built in Selmer. Together, the two installations could generate enough electricity in one year to power 4,000 homes. The company will hire workers for the construction phase and about 20 people to run the farms when they open. Each site will be about 40 acres, and they hope to have the solar stations up and running by April 1, 2014.
