National Flag Day celebrated at Liberty Garden
JACKSON, Tenn. — June 14, 1777, was when the Second Continental Congress adopted the stars and stripes for the American flag. Friday, that moment was celebrated.
Flag Day was held at Liberty Garden. This allowed participants the opportunity to honor the veterans who fought for our country.
Madison County Mayor, AJ Massey, along with several speakers, said encouraging words and told memories of what the flag means to them.
The 13-flag fold was demonstrated during the ceremony.
“Don’t forget Flag Day, don’t forget Memorial Day, don’t forget Veteran’s Day. These are all important not just to veterans, but to the young community. Keep them involved,” said Hugh Culver, 8th district commander.
Free water and snacks were offered to those who were present.
