Local art camp holds reception showcasing camper creativity
JACKSON, Tenn. — One summer art camp has been full steam ahead this week.
Campers have been letting their creativity shine at ‘Art in the Village’ located in Casey Jones Village.
Friday they held a reception of the art work they’ve been creating.
One of the projects was to paint rocks with positive messages and pictures to hide around the village grounds for visitors to find.
One of the organizers for the camp, Mary Spellings, explains why it was important to help kids find their inner artist.
“It helps build their confidence. It gives them some strengths that you don’t maybe see built other ways and it’s a lot better than looking at video games and that kinda thing. It’s a hands on experience that’s a positive thing for them,” said Spellings.
They have more art camps coming up in July. For details on how to get an application for the upcoming camps, email mary.spellings@gmail.com
