Sheriff’s Dept. warns of skimmer devices found at local stores

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department is issuing an alert to the community.

According to the department, skimmer devices have been located at multiple stores in the Lexington area.

What is a skimmer?

The Sheriff’s Department states “it is a device where a criminal will hide a device that will get your debit, credit card, or EBT card and steal money from your accounts.”

The department warns that you should always check card readers, and if they look like they have been tampered with, do not use them and inform the store owner.
