Man steals gumball, bouncy ball machines from local establishments
DYERSBURG, Tenn. — One local restaurant experienced a strange theft this past Sunday.
On June 16, Sunday evening, video surveillance from the Grecian Steakhouse of Dyersburg shows a white Dodge van with black wheels pulling up to the restaurant.
Moments later, an elderly couple was entering the restaurant, with the door being held open by a male wearing a grey tank top, grey and black shorts with white stripes and a hat.
What happens next is what was really shocking.
The suspect, now identified as Nevin Bishop, was caught on camera stealing a bouncy ball machine from Grecian Steakhouse of Dyersburg.
On the video, you can see that Bishop made it look as if he was taking a phone call, used his foot to slide over the bouncy ball machine and proceeded to carry it out of the building.
On Tuesday, June 18, Bishop was caught on surveillance footage taking a gumball machine out of the lobby of Timbers BBQ and Grill in Dyersburg.
We spoke to deputy sergeant Stan Langley, who told us that the situation with Grecian Steakhouse was called in and reported to them yesterday and that Bishop was arrested.
He was charged for both incidents with theft over $1,000 dollars.
Langley also stated that Bishop was arraigned on these theft charges and that he is expected to appear in Dyersburg Municipal Court on Monday at 4 p.m.
We reached out to the owner of Grecian Steakhouse of Dyersburg and have not heard back as of yet.
