Contestants give their all for night three of the MVA pageant

JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s night three of the preliminary competitions, which means one lucky young lady is a step closer to being crowned the new Miss Volunteer America.

Founder of Miss Volunteer America, Allison Demarcus, shared the qualities that she believes Miss America Volunteer should have.

“I think that she has humility and a heart of service and I don’t think that there is one picture of beauty and I think that she embodies beauty of course but it’s because of what she exudes and the confidence that she has,” said Demarcus.

She also shares that these ladies continuously serve in their community.

“We’re actually honoring 17 young women on stage with the Presidential Volunteer Service awards so I’m really excited about that. So they’ll receive their medals tonight for all of the volunteer service projects that they’re doing across the country,” said Demarcus.

Demarcus adds that she is proud of how far this pageant legacy has come.

“The first year so many people said we didn’t know this was happening. So I said I didn’t tell that many people because I was worried and waking up in the middle of the night panicking that no one would be here but my mother and me,” said Demarcus.

She went on to further say she is proud of the progress this pageant has made and the fact she’s able to share all that Jackson has to offer with other people.

Nicole Miller, director for Miss Washington Volunteer, shares she enjoys visiting Jackson each year to see the progress

“I love Rock N’ Dough Pizza. I’m a pizza girl, I absolutely love it there, the dough is absolutely amazing so I have the joy to bring my other title holders every year,” said Miller.

The contestants on her team continue to amaze her with their hard work and impactful serve initiatives.

“Its something that you do during your reign but its something that we want to encourage them to continue to do and they have the passion to do beyond their reign. So it really important to us to give them their tools during their time with us so that they can continue for a lifetime,” said Miller.

With such an amazing group of young ladies, those who aren’t on the stage almost have it harder.

Chris Chambers, national judges chairperson, shares what each judge is looking for when selecting the next queen.

“The judges, once again, are going to be looking for those outstanding individuals that excel,” said Chambers.

The night three preliminary winner for fitness and wellness is: Miss South Carolina volunteer!
