Lane College kicks off Black History Month celebration

JACKSON, Tenn.-“Celebrating Lane History, Black History, Black Excellence”, is the theme of Black History Month at Lane College.

In addition to promoting known African American figures and events significant to the nation’s history, notable Lane alumni and students will be highlighted during the month as well.

The events started Wednesday evening with a screening of a documentary about the life of the late Donald L. Hollowell, who was a 1947 Lane graduate and ground-breaking civil right’s attorney.

“We can’t remember who we’ve not even been exposed to to begin with, so we’re just happy to be able to introduce to these Lane College students someone they can be very proud of and someone who actually help to make our nation greater,” said Ameera Graves, college historian at Lane College.

Lane College will be holding events all month long to celebrate Black History Month.
