‘Sea of Lights’ tribute honors memory of former first responder

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A local community pays tribute to a former first responder.

The ‘Sea of Lights’ tribute held in Bolivar was in honor and memory of John David ‘Moose’ Morris, who recently passed away after an illness.

Various agencies from across West Tennessee and beyond made their way to bolivar to pay their respects with the Sea of Lights, which began in Bolivar and proceeded down Highway 64 to Whiteville and back.

Fellow first responders say Morris’ career spans nearly three decades.

“He was 28 years with the Hardeman County rescue squad, he was a state instructor for the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads for many years. He served with Whiteville Fire Department, I believe it was 25 years, and he served as Chief of Whiteville Fire Department for about 4,” said Dalton Wadley, vice president of the Hardeman County Rescue Squad.

Fellow first responders say Morris will be greatly missed.
