Voter council meets to express importance of civil participation
JACKSON, Tenn. — A local news conference held this morning discussed civil participation.
The new Jackson-Madison County Voters Council partnered with the GOTV Coalition to hold the event. Participants met at Unity Park for multiple speeches.
Speakers included Clarence Boone, Vice President of the Voter’s Council and Debbie Swacker, treasurer of Madison Area Democratic women.
Harrell Carter, President of the Jackson NAACP also shared.
Sabrina Parker, President of Jackson National Action Network spoke on the importance of voting.
“Enacting change starts at the ballot box. Through grants that we’ve recently applied, we will be able to directly support voting activities such as voter registration drives, community education forms and transportation to the polls,” said Parker.
Carter shares that it’s time for the average citizens to come out and take their role to fight for freedom, to keep it and grow it.
