Jackson native appointed as Tennessee Tech’s 2024-25 student trustee
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech has named Jackson native and Madison Academic High School graduate, Claire Myers, as their student trustee for the 2024-2025 academic year.
This is a very significant honor and leadership position on campus.
Claire will be the voice for more than 10,000 Tennessee Tech students, as the lone student on their board of trustees.
All trustees on their board, except for the student trustee and faculty representative, are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state legislature.
“I’ll just say off the bat, I didn’t get here alone. Like, I’ve had tons of supportive peers, colleagues and mentors and I think that Tech was a really great place to kind of be cultivated as a student leader,” said Myers.
Claire is pursuing a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Tennessee Tech after graduating from the university with her undergraduate degree in May.
