Local museum features captivating displays, summer programs, more

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — Beech River Cultural Center and Museum chronicles the history of Henderson County.

Located at 26 South Broad Street in Lexington, the museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The mission of the museum is to provide guests an opportunity to experience life from 1821 to 1950.

The displays pertain to geology, native inhabitants, early settlers and wars. There is a reconstructed log cabin inside and the site is the location of a former historic post office.

The center also offers an array of immersive opportunities.

“We’ve had history classes. We’ve had cotillions. We’ve had dances. We’ve had dance lessons. We teach manners. We teach how to set the table. We teach all kinda things during summer event programs,” said Diane executive director for Beech River Cultural Center and Museum.

The museum also does outreach and small venue events for a slight donation charge.

This could be events such as a family reunion or birthday gathering. There has even been a wedding!
