Jackson Rotary Club presents checks to local non-profits

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Rotary Club presented checks to partner non-profits at their meeting Wednesday.

The recipients were Madison-Haywood Developmental Services, STAR Center, Youth Town, Corey’s Gifts and Madison County Imagination Library.

Imagination Library representatives expressed that having support from the rotary club means a lot.

The program is purely donation funded so check presentations, like the one held Wednesday, help provide books to children at no cost to their family.

The local imagination library fundraises around five thousand dollars a month to get books to five thousand children.

“They get one book every month and their last one is going off to kindergarten and we hope with those books that the children in our country will really value early childhood literacy and go to kindergarten prepared with a joy and love for reading,” said Rebecca Creasy Chair of the Imagination Library Board.

Imagination Library started in Madison County in 2005.

Dolly Parton started the program in east Tennessee and it is now available in all 95 Tennessee counties.
