West TN AgResearch Center hosts annual Soybean Scout School

JACKSON, Tenn. — The West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center hosted Soybean Scout School Monday morning.

The free annual program covers the basics of soybean growth, scouting, pest identification, and general management.

Participants also received a scouting notebook and a sweep net.

The Soybean Scout School highlights the practices of integrating pest management and utilizing scouting methods.

The goal is to be able to economically and affordably produce soybeans across Tennessee.

“We try to train crop consultants, Ag professionals, growers, pretty much anybody wanting to know how to get into scouting and how to scout correctly for insects, weeds, disease, agronomic factors, pretty much the things that we have, the problematic issues that we have in Tennessee soybeans,” said Sebe Brown, Entomologist.

This event will also be held on July 17 in Obion County.
