Jackson native selected by Atlanta Braves in MLB draft

JACKSON, Tenn. — The community has come together to celebrate an athlete seeing major success.

Dalton McIntyre has been selected by the Atlanta Braves in the MLB draft.

The Jackson native attended the University of Southern Mississippi. McIntyre says it was always his dream to make it to the big leagues.

And the teams and coaches throughout his life have helped get him to this point. Wednesday a celebration was held at Hub City Brewing for this big accomplishment.

“I mean it’s kinda an unreal feeling. You know you can’t really every prepare yourself for that feeling. Growing up as a kid you know you’re sitting in the yard you’re like I want to play for this team when I grow up. You know you want to make it to the big leagues, you want to at least have the opportunity to. And then to be in that situation is a really great feeling.” said McIntyre.

McIntyre says he’s excited to learn from this new level of leadership as he continues to grow in the game.
