Group meets in downtown Jackson to pray for elected officials

JACKSON, Tenn. — A prayer circle met Thursday to pray for those running for office in light of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

The event took place in the courtyard between federal courthouse buildings in downtown Jackson.

The group of citizens and pastors gathered together to lift up in prayer elected officials and candidates running for elected office.

They prayed for their safety, their families and for God’s will in their lives.

“Pastor Currie called me after the assassination attempt and said ‘hey we need to be praying’, what do we need to be praying about, and we just brainstormed a little bit and I certainly suggested candidates that are running like President Trump, our existing elected officials– because none of us can really do this without people praying for us,” said State Representative Chris Todd.

Todd also shared his hope that the Lord will move in this country and that people will respond.
