Back-to-school essentials: 2024 guide for parents, students

JACKSON, Tenn. — The back-to-school season is almost upon us, here are some must-haves for students and parents.

According to a study by the LEGO Group, 89% of children say play helps them express themselves on how they feel.

So, when thinking about little ones, age-appropriate toys are encouraged with bright colors and big pieces.

For older students, technology is important. Look for gear that is a good balance of power, weight, and battery life.

For art supplies, it’s a good idea to restock on crayons, markers, and colored pencils.

At school and home, new and classic tools can turn imagination into action.

“You don’t want to wait until the last minute and then have kids scrambling. It’s already a little hectic on school days, in the mornings, trying to get out the door so having all of these things in your hand, in the backpack, ready to go before the school year starts, I think, just helps everybody even better,” said Stephanie Humphrey, tech life expert.

Lastly, the costs add up so keep an eye out for deals and bargains.
