Former daycare employee accused of assaulting children appears in court
MILAN, Tenn. — Lisa Hobock, a former employee at Crockett Day School who allegedly assaulted multiple children at the school, appeared in Milan City Court Wednesday.
“Miss Hobock, the defendant in this case–she was present today with her attorney Justin Jones and they have requested that this case be waved to the grand jury, which is her right under Tennessee law. In Tennessee, all cases that come from a city court or a general sessions court have to be run through the grand jury, ” said 28th Judicial District Attorney General, Frederick Agee.
Hobock is facing four misdemeanor charges. Three class A-misdemeanors for simple assault and one class B-misdemeanor for offensive touching.
Court records show an investigator stated that video surveillance from the daycare shows Hobock striking the 4-year-old with an open hand gesture on their upper body more than 18 times over a period of 25 seconds.
The investigator also stated Hobock could be seen in the video lifting a 2-year-old child by the wrist and swinging them three to four feet in the air.
According to the investigator, parents did confirm that it was their children in the video.
In a statement from one of the victims parents they state:
“It has been a very difficult process, heartbreaking and hard to trust others moving forward. We have been on waiting lists for other daycares since this happened. We plan to continue to advocate for our child and pray that justice is served.”
If Hoback is indicted on the misdemeanor charges, the next court appearance will be October 11.
In Tennessee, a class A-misdemeanor is punishable by up to 11 months and 29 days in jail
A class B-misdemeanor is punishable by up to 5 months and 29 days in jail. Both include fines.
