Major James Harris “Jim” McClure, 99 of Dyersburg passed away 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday at East View Cemetery. Brother Ron Gray will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Friday.

Jim was born February 20, 1925, in Union City, son of the late Jessie Hays and Louise (Harris) McClure.  He was a 1941 graduate of Dyersburg High School.  After graduation he was called to the Army Air Corps where he went thru the pilots program to receive his pilot wings and  graduated in1944. Jim had B 24 training in the 8th Air Force in England and then he was discharged in 1945. He reentered the Air Force in 1957. Jim flew several aircrafts and ended his career flying C 130s in Vietnam. Jim was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  He retired as Major in 1968. Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg.

He is survived by his stepson, Gary Gasaway of California; his beloved niece, Susanne Wilk of Florida; two nephews; and good friends and caretakers, Jimmy and Alma Ruth Michael of Newbern and Dick Barlow of Union City.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William H. McClure and Dr. Jere P. McClure; and his long time friend and confident, Ruth Ann Jones.
