Man arrested on several drug charges following traffic stop

Newbern PD arrest suspect on narcotics charges

On August 7, 2024 Newbern officers conducted a traffic stop on a white SUV traveling on Highway 77 near Biffle Road due to prior knowledge the vehicle’s driver had active warrants.

The driver, identified as Jermaine Bowen (45) of Tigrett, TN, was taken into custody on multiple felony warrants issued by the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office.

After observing illegal narcotics in plain view, a search was conducted of the vehicle.

During the search officers located approximately 77 grams of methamphetamine, 2 grams of crack cocaine, 12 grams of marijuana, and 28.5 Alprazolam. Digital scales, items used in packaging illegal narcotics, and items used to ingest illegal narcotics were also found.

Bowen was charged with possession of Schedule II (Cocaine) with intent to sell/deliver, possession Schedule II (Methamphetamine) with intent to sell/deliver, Possession Schedule IV (Alprazolam) with intent to sell/deliver, Possession Schedule VI (Marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bowen appeared in Newbern Municipal Court on August 19, 2024 and was issued a $25,000 bond by Judge Jason Creasy. The Newbern Police Department was assisted by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol.
