Enjoy The Weekend, Record Heat Possible Next Week

Saturday Morning Update

Hopefully you enjoyed a quick tease of fall the last couple days. Summer weather is moving back in and will be sticking around into next week. Highs could reach up to around 100° early next week and rain is no where in the forecast. Drought conditions have returned to most of West Tennessee unfortunately as well. We will have the latest on the drought concerns and your complete weekend forecast coming up here.

TODAY:

We’ll start to notice the temperatures being a little warmer today as some of the hot air from our west starts to slowly spill over into west Tennessee. Sunshine will be in full effect with highs in the lower 90s and light east southeast winds.

TONIGHT:

Skies should remain mostly clear overnight with one more night in the upper 60s.

SUNDAY:

The heat and humidity will start to crank up a little into Sunday with mostly sunny skies and highs around 95 in the evening.

NEXT WEEK:

Heat and humidity will begin to ramp up throughout the weekend as temperatures return to the mid-90s reaching triple digits early next week. Winds will shift to a more southerly direction bringing more moisture to the air, but unfortunately the chances for rain in the next week still remain near zero.

1

Our first taste of triple-digit temperatures is Tuesday, with a forecast high of 101°. Heat index values will likely exceed 110° and may even push close to 120°. The best chance for rain appears to be Thursday, however the chance is less than 20%. Meteorological fall begins September 1st, so long-term cooler temperatures are just over the horizon.Tues Heat

The heat will be prolonged and last right into the end of the week and into next weekend as it looks now. Prepare to take plenty of breaks and use extreme caution in the heat ahead. Make sure the air conditioner is in good working order ahead of time when possible.

2

Stay cool, hydrated, and indoors if at all possible next week. Take frequent breaks to avoid heat-related illness. With temperatures this high, onset of illness can be in minutes!
