Wilma Sue Weaver Hamlett, born August 3, 1933, at home in Jackson, TN, peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion.

Sue was the cherished daughter of the late Hubert B. Weaver and Susie Claudine Edgin Weaver. She was a proud graduate of J.B. Young High School in Bemis, where she completed her studies in the class of 1952. She dedicated over 40 years of her life to Woolworth’s as a retail associate, where she became a familiar and beloved face to many in her community. After her retirement, she continued to serve others with warmth and kindness at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse.

A devoted member of Lester’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Sue’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was known for her steadfast commitment to her church and its community, offering her time and talents whenever needed.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Earl Hamlett, and her brother, H.C. Weaver.

She is survived by her goddaughter, Jil Cooper (Brent), and Jil’s children, Will Cooper (Abbey) and Amanda Cooper, who brought her immense joy and pride.

She also leaves behind her brother, James Weaver (Barbara), her sister, Jean Weaver Duke, her nephew, James Weaver II, and his son, Jake Ashton Weaver, as well as her niece, Sarah Ann Weaver Dickerson, and her son, John Robert Dickerson.

Sue will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and service, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who loved her.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Sue Weaver Hamlett will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:00 at Lester’s Chapel Cemetery with Rev. James Ellington and Rev. Joe Thornton officiating.

Pallbearers to serve will be Gerald Parish, David Pruitt, Jamie Weaver, Jim Weaver, Jake Weaver, J.R. Dickerson, Brent Cooper and Will Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Lester’s Chapel Cemetery for the care and upkeep up the cemetery for future generations.
