Johnny Ray “John” Beville
Johnny Ray “John” Beville, age 62, of Cordova, Tennessee, died on August 19, 2024, at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tennessee from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Johnny was born on December 22, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lorie, his children, Kevin Beville (Ashley), Morgan MacBride (Jerry) his stepdaughter, Brittni Phyfer (Matt); his grandchildren, Layla Beville, Oliver MacBride, Rowan MacBride; and step-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kolbi and Eliza Phyfer. He is also survived by his father, John W. Beville; his brother, Terry Beville; and his sister, Andra Beville.
Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda J. Beville; his grandparents, Wesley and Kathleen Beville and Billy and Edith Anderson; and his sister-in-law, Donna Beville.
He graduated from Bartlett High School and studied Accounting and Finance at State Technical Institute in Memphis. After graduating high school, he worked briefly on a barge on the Mississippi River, but that was only an adventure. Johnny launched his career in credit/finance and he never looked back. He worked for a few different companies including as a credit manager for Snap-on Tools, but in July 1996 he began his long career at Thompson Machinery. Johnny was hired as an Assistant Credit Manager and years later he was appointed Director of Credit and Finance. Johnny recently celebrated his 28th year working for Thompson Machinery and he was planning his retirement in 2 years.
Johnny was a Christian and he had been active in church activities over the years, including teaching Sunday School, helping on finance committees and singing in the choir.
He had several hobbies: watching Green Bay Packers football games, karaoke, music of many different genres, trivia, old cars and watching classic movies (especially horror films like Dracula). He loved to travel, and he enjoyed many vacations; some of his favorite trips were on a family cruise to Alaska and another one was to Wisconsin to attend a Green Bay Packers home game with Kevin.
Johnny volunteered his time often, if you ever needed assistance with anything he would help you if he could, his neighbors would agree. He volunteered many times over the years to be “Santa Claus” at dog rescue events for Santa photos, he even got to have his photo taken with his own dogs over the years.
Johnny was a family man and becoming a grandfather and getting to be a “Pop Pop” was something he loved more than anything. He touched many lives and he will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Johnny will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel, 10670 US-64, Somerville, TN 38068. Funeral Services will follow at 2 P.M.
