Union City to host ‘Run the Rails’ race
UNION CITY, Tenn. — Lace up your sneakers, an annual race is returning to Obion County.
The City of Union City and the Half Marathon Committee has announced that Union City will host ‘Run the Rails’ annually.
The 2024 Run the Rails is a half marathon, 5K and 10K that will be downtown Union City on September 21.
Named after its rich history in the rail industry, race day consists of fun for the whole family.
The mission of the race is to raise money for the downtown district to do products.
“The first year we were able to help the masquerade theatre get a new roof and last year we created a mural in our downtown district so we’ve done some really great projects in the past. This year we’re having a lighting project to promote people coming downtown and enjoying string lighting,” said Brooke Simmons, Run the Rails volunteer.
While runners are on the course, friends and family can enjoy music in the park, food trucks, local boutiques, and specialty shops.
