Steve Parks
Steve Parks
1982 – 2024
Steve Parks, 41, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on August 22, 2024, at Baptist East Hospital from complications related to heart failure.
Steve was born on September 3, 1982, in Memphis, TN, at Baptist East and grew up in Somerville, TN, where he excelled at Fayette Ware High School. After graduating from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology with an associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, he spent years working on cars—a passion of his. But it wasn’t until 2016, when he started working as a chemical applicator for a lawn company, that he found his true calling. Steve loved his work, which many might overlook, but he saw the value in it and put everything into it. In 2022, he proudly earned his license to start a lawn care business and became the licensed holder for a lawn care company in Memphis—a day he considered one of his happiest.
However, the absolute highlight of Steve’s life was the day his son, Harper, was born. He was over the moon, getting emotional anytime someone mentioned the baby. Steve was kind-hearted, genuine, and gentle—qualities that made him an incredible husband, father, and friend. He had a knack for building and fixing anything, and he spent summer days gardening with Harper, growing vegetables in the DIY raised beds and greenhouses he built himself. He always reassured Katelyn with words like, “It’ll be alright; it won’t be like this forever,” when things got tough.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ricky Parks, his brother, Andy Parks, and his grandparents, Francis Blalock, Walter “Steve” Stephenson, Leila M. Parks, and Alfred “Fert” Parks. He is survived by his loving wife, Katelyn Paulson, who loved him dearly, and their son, Ricky Harper Parks. He is also survived by his in-laws, Terry and Clara Paulson, and brother-in-law, Jordan Paulson. Steve was the beloved son of Judy Parks and the brother of Jessica Parks. He also leaves behind his nephews, Colton, Elliot, and Walter Parks, J.R. Hogan, Kaleb, and Gage Parks.
Steve was a loving, dedicated man who brought joy and strength to everyone around him. He will be deeply missed.
