Hope Cafe and Store celebrates new renovations with ribbon cutting

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Hub City Hope Café and Store has completed new renovations and now they are celebrating with a ribbon cutting!

It’s a day of giving hope for the Hope Café and Store as their thrift store turns into a gift shop. After many plans and preparation, the newly refurbished Hope Store had a ribbon cutting with the Jackson Chamber of Commerce to celebrate.

“We used to be a little thrift store but we have upped our game and so now we are a Hope Store and Gift Shop. The store has new and gently used furniture, home décor, lamps, art work–all kinds of things. But the gift shop part is what’s so exciting. In the gift shop, you will find items that our Men and Women of Hope have made,” said Lisa Clements, board member.

Executive director of the program, Marcie Hendrick and Lisa Clement, board member tells us when the Men and Women of Hope make these items in store they’re paying it forward because they don’t charge members for recovery. The Hope Café and Gift Shop is essential in contributing funding to the program.

“September is Recovery Awareness Month and we’re letting the community know, Jackson-Madison County and the surrounding area know that we are a recovery program. If someone needs it for a spouse, a child, a loved one or whatever–that’s our first thing is community awareness,” Clements said.

If you have gently used furniture, that’s in good condition you can pay it forward by donating it, and they will even pick it up at your residence. The Hope Café and Gift Shop also accept donations by check. Any act of kindness is appreciated and it will support a member of the program.

“I tell people you can go anywhere. There’s a lot of places to eat in Jackson but there’s only just about one or two places where you eat and it’s a dual purpose. You donate and contribute to a ministry as well,” Clements said.

The Men and Women of Hope is a faith-based year long program that believes recovery is possible. Their mission is to set individuals free and sustain healthy lifestyles.

They encourage everyone to come eat, shop, and donate. If you’re looking for a way to get involved with the Men and Women of Hope, you can call (731) 234-1009.
