West TN State Fair welcomes first Farmers Appreciation Breakfast

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local fair showed appreciation for those in agriculture in a tasty way.

The 169th West Tennessee State Fair is continuing their week of fun with new additions, including Friday morning’s first Farmers Appreciation Breakfast.

Paul Latham’s Meat Company provided breakfast for us this morning, and so we had a huge breakfast buffet,” said Hayley O’Neal, West TN State Fair Board of Directors member. “We had every type of meat you can possibly imagine, all the way down to hash browns, biscuits and gravy, eggs, all the fixings, and then Besso’s Coffee at Henderson provided coffee for us this morning.”

O’Neal shared the passion behind the hope of having an annual event.

“I just want to make it something that is talked about through the year, you know, kind of like a destination where everybody, you know, they know that this breakfast is held during fair week and that they want to come and be a part of it,” said O’Neal. “You know, see old faces, just like a big family reunion in the agricultural world.”

She also shared the importance of showing appreciation to those in agriculture, whether they are the farmers, producers, vendors or in another area.

“I’m very thankful for those that did come out this morning, you know. And I hope to see these faces and more next year,” O’Neal said.

Being in the room, you could feel the joy of those in attendance, and the feeling of their close community.

O’Neal also expressed a big “thank you” to all the sponsors: H&R AgriPower, Helena, Farm Credit Mid-America, and Volunteer Ag Services who has supported the fair and breakfast.

If you were not able to join this year, O’Neal also shared you can reach out to join their mailing list to stay in the know.

The fair will continue through Sunday, September 15. Click here for more information.
