We are seeing a couple very isolated pop up showers this evening, on the extreme outer bands of the low pressure system that brought the drought busting rain to West Tennessee last week. After tonight’s few pop ups, rain will be scarce for the next week. We are over 3″ above on the year and have already seen 7″ of rain at the airport in Jackson for the month of September. There is a shot we make it back up to 90° later this week. Catch the full forecast details coming up here.

In Jackson at the airport we have seen 42.448″ of rain since the beginning of the year, that puts up 3″ over for the year. The heavy rain we saw will greatly improve the drought monitor when it comes out on Thursday. The rain will not eliminate the drought for all of us but we are expecting some major improvements from last week.

THIS WEEK:

After a very wet end to last week and a few sprinkles this evening, we are not expecting anymore rain for the remainder of the work week and likely not this weekend either. The clouds that are sticking around this evening will clear out tonight and we are going to see a lot of sunshine this week. The clouds may try to return later this weekend as the winds will finally start to return to the south late in the weekend. Most of the week the winds will come out of the north keeping the humidity down and limited cloud development.

Temperatures this week will be close to normal for the entire week. Highs will reach the mid 80s for the middle of the week before warming up to the upper 80s by the end of week and lasting into the weekend. Morning lows will hang around 60° for the middle of the week before climbing to the mid 60s later this weekend and lasting into the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:

We are expecting mostly sunny skies on Saturday and more clouds to build in late in the day on Sunday. The winds will come out of the east on Saturday before making a turn to the southeast on Sunday. Highs will reach the upper 80s both day and morning lows will hang around the mid 60s. As of now, we are not expecting any rain this weekend. A cold will get closer but likely will not impact our weather until early the following week.
