Ruby Captola Collins Johnson
Funeral Services for Ruby Captola Collins Johnson, age 91, will be held at 1pm on Thursday September 19, 2024, at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Mark Wade officiating.
Captola was born in Madison County, Tennessee on December 28, 1932, the daughter of the late James and Ruby Sanders Morris. She was a retired food service worker from the Coca – Cola Company.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband’s Charlie Collins and James C. Johnson, a son Charlie Grant Collins, 7 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter Thea Briley of Jackson, TN, a daughter-in-law Carolyn Collins of Jackson, TN, one sister Ann Melear of Memphis, TN, and one brother Bill Morris (Cecillia) of Florida, two grandchildren Joanie Deberry (Matt), Mindy Carnell (Shane), 11 great grandchildren Jake, Cameron, Knox, Briley, Gauge, Jenna, Tyler, Hunter, Shalyn, Lacy, and Morgan, and several great great grandchildren.
Captola was a member of East Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed gospel music, playing cards, cooking for others, and was known for her joke telling. Among other things she was an aspiring amateur actress.
The Family will receive friends on Thursday September 19, 2024, from 11am until 1pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
