Fair gates open in Hardin County for a week full of fun
The fair returns to Hardin County for a week of fun.
SAVANNAH, Tenn. — The fair gates are open for the Hardin County Agricultural Fair, and there’s something everyone can enjoy.
If you’re a carnival goer, the team tells us the circus is a must, with live performances every night.
“All the children and the adults, and even the older people, can come just have a good time and enjoy themselves and just think back,” said Calvin Hinton, fair staff. “The older people think back to the days when we used to come. We’ve heard some wonderful stories since I’ve been here.”
The lineup for the week ranges from a poultry show the first night, a cake walk and southern supercross jump and run Wednesday night, a tractor pull on Friday, and demolition derby on Saturday.
The fair decided to open a little earlier than anticipated for a student named Ireland Smith who is having brain surgery September 17. The whole fair staff is making sure she has the full carnival experience.
“My daughter Ireland was diagnosed with a brain tumor on 9/9, and all she talked about is going to the fair for the past month, because they look forward to it every year,” said Ireland’s mom, Rhonda Smith.
Rhonda expresses her gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received from the community.
“The have made it possible for my daughter to come to the fair before it opened up for her to be able to ride rides, is just really heart warming and we really appreciate it,” Smith said.
