Blackmon bound over to the Grand Jury, faces several charges
PRESS RELEASE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY GENERAL FREDERICK H. AGEE:
On September 17, 2024, in the General Sessions Court of Gibson County in Trenton, a preliminary hearing was held in State v. Alexander Blackmon.
On August 7, 2023, the West Tennessee Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 141 Bobby Burgess Road in Trenton. Mr. Blackmon and another individual were occupants of a white truck located on the property. Special Agent Kevin Hill identified Mr. Blackmon based on prior experiences with him. Special Agent Hill issued commands for Mr. Blackmon to display his hands and exit the vehicle, due to Mr. Blackmon making furtive movements. Due to Mr. Blackmon’s failure to comply, Special Agent Hill attempted to remove him from the vehicle, but he drove away at a high rate of speed, nearly striking the officers. As Mr. Blackmon evaded arrest, he struck a pillar, which caused the truck to go airborne, almost striking another officer. Mr. Blackmon subsequently crashed the vehicle in the vicinity, and he and the passenger fled the scene. He was eventually located and arrested in Shelby County, to be brought back to Gibson County.
Judge Bradley Owens found probable cause to bind his charges of Aggravated Assault on a First Responder, Two Counts of Felony Reckless Endangerment, Felony Evading Arrest, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Possession of Synthetic Marijuana, which was found in the vehicle, to the Grand Jury for indictment.
Additionally, Mr. Blackmon has a pending Violation of Probation in front of the Honorable Clayburn Peeples of the Humboldt Law Court of Gibson County on a 16-year sentence for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Cocaine. The revocation hearing was scheduled to be heard this week but was reset due to his attorney, Harold Dorsey, not appearing in Court.
Mr. Blackmon remains in the custody of the Gibson County Jail.
