Kids & Family Resource Fair held at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Human Services held the ‘Kids and Family Resources Fair,’ bringing many vendors together to impact families.

Though it was originally planned to be a walk in the park for families to meet the vendors, the change of scenery at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital allowed everyone to stay dry from the rain, while obtaining the information needed.

Krystle Glenn with the Tennessee Department of Human Services shared about some of the resources that were present.

“We have a partnership with the Nashville Diaper Connection and they were gracious enough to donate free diapers that we were able to giveaway to families. We also have partnerships here from the local district attorney generals conference, we have members from the West Tennessee Legal Aid Society that’s here to offer resources for different legal services available. We have tons of partners here,” said Glenn.

This fair not only benefited families, through resources, information, the ability to interact with an agency face to face and ask questions, but also for vendors to interact with each other building bonds that can strengthen the community.

Attendees were also able to learn about education programs they could enroll in, and safety checks for car seats, among many other needs.

“The WRAP program has information here about the Relative Caregiver program. For caregivers who are raising a child that may not be their son or daughter, maybe it’s a niece, nephew, or grandchild, and they have programs that are available that can offer assistance with childcare, helping to navigate different educational services, or even they may be able to offer financial assistance,” said Glenn.
