Investigation into suspicious package delivery leads to several drug arrests
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE WEST TENNESSEE DRUG TASK FORCE - 28TH, 29TH, 30TH DISTRICTS:
On 10/7/24, Agents began an investigation into a suspicious package from a delivery company.
After receiving a positive alert from a certified narcotics canine, Agents applied for and received a search warrant for the package. The package contained nearly 4 lbs. of marijuana.
Agents delivered the package to a residence on E. Church St. in Alamo accompanied by a search warrant.
During service of the search warrant, Agents seized approximately 4 pounds of marijuana, over 200 Suboxone strips, a loaded weapon and $48,001.00 in suspected drug proceeds.
Agents arrested one person who is a previously convicted felon and was charged with numerous drug and weapon charges.
Additionally, Agents uncovered evidence that led them to a second suspect’s home on Cherryville Road in Haywood County.
On arrival at the second home, Agents developed probable cause to apply for a search warrant for that residence as well. Several Agents secured the residence while others went to apply for the search warrant. While Agents at the home waited, a second package was delivered that appeared to be consistent with the first package.
Upon serving the search warrant, the package was found to contain approximately 2 more pounds of marijuana. Also recovered was more marijuana, a firearm, electronic scales capable of weighing pounds, more than $500.00 in drug proceeds and evidence to suggest that the two residences had received at least 30-60 pounds of marijuana within the previous two month period.
Two males were arrested and charged with drug and weapon offenses.
Agents were assisted by Gibson County sheriff’s Dept. Canine and Bell’s Police Department.
This case is being prosecuted by The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District, Frederick Agee.
