1942 – 2024

Harold Douglas “Doug” Williams, age 82, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and
husband of the late Lillian Sue Catron Williams, departed this life Friday, October 11,
2024 at Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
Doug was born April 27, 1942 in Tyronza, Arkansas, the son of the late Alvin Williams
and Addie Mae Dunnam Williams. He moved with his family to Fayette County in
December of 1957 and graduated from Fayette County High School in 1960. Following
high school, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He served two
tours during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the purple heart.
Doug was married in January of 1965 to Lillian Sue Catron Williams who preceded him
in death on June 6, 2015. He was employed as an Advanced EMT for the Fayette
County Ambulance Service for 12 years before his retirement in 1990. Doug was a
member of First Baptist Church of Somerville and he loved collecting guns, hunting and
fishing. Above all of the things he enjoyed during his life, spending time with his
grandchildren was the most important.
Mr. Williams is survived by two daughters, Susan Williams of Culleoka, TN and Jennifer
Cavnor of Memphis, TN; his son, Lewis Williams (Kristen) of Nashville, TN; his sister,
Dianne Davis (Larry) of Sardis, MS; one brother, Jimmy Williams (Sharon) of Bass
Springs, TN; his most precious grandchildren, Paul Anthony, John Douglas Williams,
Abigail Nicole Williams and Elizabeth Lynn Cavnor; and two great-grandsons, Roman
Anthony and Kairo Anthony.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hannah
Drewry, Dorothy Williams and Phyllis Williams; and two brothers, Charles Williams and
Robert Williams.
A visitation for Mr. Williams will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at
the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Funeral Services will be at 1 P.M.
Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with
Burke Howcroft, pastor of Lambert Community Church near Somerville, officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in Somerville City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Russell Shaheen, Wesley Parks, Jr.,
John Douglas Williams and Johnnie Pattat.
The family requests that memorials be directed to First Baptist Church of Somerville,
12685 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
