Man charged with killing TBI agent waives case to grand jury
JACKSON, Tenn. — The man charged with killing Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agent De’Greaun Frazier appeared Thursday in Jackson City Court.
Brenden Burns waived his right to a preliminary hearing, sending his case to the Madison County grand jury.
Attorney Claiborne Ferguson represents Burns. “We felt that, in all candor, we thought that this was the best decision for all parties involved,” Ferguson said.
Burns is accused of shooting and killing Frazier during an undercover drug buy in August 2016 on Brianfield Cove in Jackson.
“We’ve been able to review the video of the incident,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson said they will look at that video and determine if there is a defense they can raise from it. “I wouldn’t want to talk specifically about the evidence as it exists right now, but there is evidence and we have been able to review it,” he said.
The Madison County grand jury is scheduled to meet again April 3. Ferguson said he is not sure when they will hear the case.
If convicted, Burns could face the death penalty.
