Ronald McDonald House Charities-Jackson seeks volunteers ahead of opening date

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Ronald McDonald House-Jackson is on track to open in 2025, and in preparation of the grand opening, they are reaching out to all members of the community to help run the house.

That’s right, the charity is moving its way into the Hub City to help serve families of Le Bonheur and the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. If you are willing to volunteer, then you could be a part of helping others who need it most.

There will be 20 rooms, able to serve 20 families on the second floor of the Hyatt Hotel that is currently being built near the corner of Lambuth Blvd and Forest Avenue.

“Families will be able to stay. There will be a family room, there will be a laundry room, kitchen; just areas for people to work while their children are getting pediatric care at the hospital,” said Grace Beasley, community engagement manager for Ronald McDonald House Charities Memphis-Jackson.

The charity is asking for volunteers to come be a part of helping others who need it most.

Right now, front desk volunteers are much needed.

“They will welcome them. They will answer phone calls. They will help keep the place tidy,” said Beasley.

Other volunteer opportunities could be anything from meal preparation to providing transportation services.

There will also be opportunities to volunteer at the children’s room, an area for siblings to hang out and play.

“We will need toys. If people want to bring in a group to volunteer to do a paint night, or a story reading, or a craft, they are welcome to do that with the siblings and give back that way,” said Beasley.

Those who wish to volunteer must be over 18, fill out a volunteer application and pass a background check.

This reinforces the organization’s mission to keep children near the care they need with the family they love.
