Front Coming Saturday Morning, Rain Likely on Halloween!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

For the third day in a row high temperatures records were set or tied in West Tennessee. No jacket or umbrellas will be needed for the football games tonight. A front is coming Saturday morning that will bring a few morning showers and about a 10-15° cooldown with it. The cool down though will be short lived as we will warm back up quickly next week. Rain is still looking like for Halloween and we will have the latest forecast on potential timing of the rain coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

After a nice finish to the weekend, the great weather continued to kick off the work week. Highs on Monday made it up to around 80° and warmer weather is on the way for Tuesday and Wednesday. The first front to move through this week was weak and came by late Wednesday. That front only dropped temperatures about 5-10° and didn’t bring any rain to West Tennessee. We have not recorded any rain in Jackson so far this month. Only once in recorded history has Jackson not seen any rain for the entire month of October and that was in 1963.

Highs on Tuesday reached the low 80s and mid 80s are expected on Wednesday before the front shows up after the sun goes down. Tuesday morning lows  dropped into the upper 40s but mid 50s popped up for Wednesday morning. We stayed in the mid 50s in the mornings for most of the work week but it will be a little cooler this weekend. Another front is coming on Saturday and that will cool things back down near normal but expect above normal temperatures to stick around for the entire work week.

We didn’t see many clouds on Tuesday but some clouds moved in along the front on Wednesday but sunshine will return for the most part on Thursday and Friday. Like the midweek front, the weekend front will also look to bring a round of clouds, but rain chances again are not looking great but will be possible for some from the second front. Rain chances are 30% early Saturday for rain as the front passes.

The winds are forecast to be all over the place this week due to the multiple fronts and quick recovery and transition periods between the front. The winds were a bit breezy around 15 MPH out of the south on Tuesday. The winds were still a bit breezy at times on Wednesday and came from the southwest during the day before moving to the northeast on Thursday behind the front. The winds will be back to the south on Friday making for a great night for Friday night football in West Tennessee. Record highs were set for all of West Tennessee on Friday.

THE WEEKEND:

The weekend is going to be a little cooler than during the week as a front will look to pass by early on Saturday. The front could bring a shower or two but overall, chances for rain are not looking good from the early weekend front. Highs will reach the upper 70s on Saturday but only reach the mid 70s on Sunday. Morning lows will fall down to around 50° Sunday morning but warm back up to the mid 50s by Monday morning. Expect sunny skies on Sunday but some clouds will accompany the front on Saturday. The winds will come out of the north or northeast this weekend keeping the temperature and humidity down a bit.

There appears to be a more powerful front coming as we get closer to Halloween. This front will bring our best shot at rain and storms so far for the entire month of October. As of now, the most likely time for the rain or storms will be from Wednesday night through Friday morning. There is a chance the rain will impact trick or treat plans but we are still 6 days away and the forecast will likely change a bit before the system gets here. Keep an eye on the forecast this week as it might be a good idea to have a back up plan for your youngsters. Those plans could include taking them to one of the many events this weekend across West Tennessee where they can get candy and show off their costumes just in case it will be raining or storming Halloween night. Here is a list of all the events happening in West Tennessee this weekend!
